Gaming Eminence sat down with Anton Chumel, CEO of Champion, we discusses the company's in-house game development process, highlighting how they utilise programming languages like JavaScript and a modular architecture to release new games monthly. Anton explains their technical infrastructure, which supports over 52 languages and multiple currencies—including cryptocurrencies—through microservices and machine learning-driven localisation. Anton also addresses how data analytics and a mobile-first approach enhance player experience across different platforms. Additionally, he outlines how Champion's adaptable technology stack ensures compliance with various regional regulations, integrates secure payment gateways, and maintains RNG certification integrity.
Gaming Eminence: Your in-house team designs every aspect of your games. Could you detail your game development process, including the software stack, programming languages, and tools you use? How do these technologies enable you to rapidly release high-quality games each month?
AC) At Champion, every game is crafted in-house, allowing us to maintain full creative and technical control. Our game development process begins with conceptualisation, where our design and math teams collaborate to create a unique, engaging gaming experience. Once we have a solid concept, our artists and animators step in to develop the visual assets—ensuring that every symbol, animation, and background aligns with the game’s theme, whether it's fruit-themed or more complex, like our jungle-themed Kong of the Jungle or the recent Anubis Spell.
From a technical standpoint, we rely on modern game engines and frameworks, using languages like JavaScript, which are ideal for both speed and flexibility. By leveraging modular architecture, we can re-use code components across games, speeding up the development process while ensuring high quality and performance. This approach enables us to release one game a month and will eventually allow us to double that pace.
Gaming Eminence: Supporting over 52 languages and multiple currencies, including crypto, requires robust infrastructure. Can you elaborate on your platform's technical architecture? How do you handle code-level localisation, and what technologies enable real-time currency conversions and compliance across diverse markets?
AC) Supporting such a vast range of languages and currencies—including cryptocurrencies—requires a powerful and flexible architecture. Our platform is built with microservices architecture, allowing us to independently scale and optimize specific components. Each service handles different aspects, like user management, payments, game logic, and more.
Localisation happens at both the code and content levels. For example, all language-specific elements—text, images, audio—are externalized from the core game code, making it easier to update and expand. We utilize machine learning-driven localization engines to ensure that translations feel natural and culturally appropriate, supported by human review for key regions.
For real-time currency conversions, we integrate with live exchange rate APIs and have built-in mechanisms for handling transactions. Compliance is a critical part of our infrastructure, where we integrate secure payment gateways that adhere to regulatory standards for each region. As a licensed operator in Romania, Ukraine, and Curacao, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions is key, and our backend is built to accommodate the specific needs of each one seamlessly.
Gaming Eminence: Data analytics refines your games post-launch. What analytics platforms or tools do you use to collect and analyse player behaviour? How does this data-driven approach integrate with your development pipeline, and do you use machine learning to personalise and optimise the gaming experience in real time?
AC) Data analytics plays a pivotal role in refining our games and optimising the player experience. We use a combination of in-house analytics tools and third-party platforms to track in-game behaviour, such as session duration or feature engagement. We also track gameplay trends to identify which mechanics resonate most with players—whether it's the bonus buy features or free spins in order to know which ones work the best for our audience.
This data is fed directly back into our development pipeline, helping us fine-tune game features or add new elements that enhance player engagement.
Gaming Eminence: Ensuring seamless multiplatform compatibility is challenging. What strategies and technologies does your team use to optimise game performance across devices and operating systems? How do you address device-specific limitations to maintain consistent gameplay quality?
AC) We prioritise multiplatform compatibility from the very start of our game development. Using HTML5 ensures that our games run smoothly across both desktop and mobile platforms. Our design team works with a "mobile-first" mindset, which ensures that games perform exceptionally well on smaller screens and lower-powered devices without compromising quality.
To maintain consistent gameplay quality we rigorously test across a variety of devices and operating systems to detect any platform-specific issues early in the development cycle.
Gaming Eminence: As you expand into regions with varying regulations, how does your technology stack adapt? Can you share technical solutions you've developed to streamline compliance, integrate secure payment gateways—including cryptocurrencies—and ensure RNG certification integrity across jurisdictions?
AC) As we expand into new markets, flexibility and compliance are at the core of our approach. We have built our platform to be adaptable, ensuring that it can meet the specific regulatory requirements of each region. This means our technology is structured in a way that allows us to implement localized features like responsible gaming measures or region-specific reporting without disrupting the overall system.
When it comes to payments, we are committed to providing secure and diverse options, including traditional payment methods as well as cryptocurrencies, all of which are compliant with the respective regulatory frameworks of each region. Security is always a priority, and we ensure that all transactions are encrypted and protected to the highest standards.
In terms of game fairness, we prioritise certification and auditing of our Random Number Generators (RNG) to meet international standards. Our games are regularly tested to ensure they are fully compliant with the rules and regulations of the markets where they are offered, which is essential for maintaining trust and integrity as we expand globally and we want to be seen as a premier game provider and be the first choice for players around the globe.
