In this CTO in Focus interview, Giedrius Vegele, CTO of BetGames, discusses how his financial-sector expertise is influencing innovation and operational efficiency in his new role. Gaming Eminence: As the newly appointed CTO at BetGames, you bring a wealth of experience from the financial sector and other leadership roles. With just a few months in your new position, how are you beginning to apply your previous experiences to drive innovation within the gaming industry at BetGames? Could you share any initial insights or strategies that have started to take shape?


GV) "Coming from the financial sector, I’m drawing on my experience with scalability, precision, and operational rigour to bring structure and focus to BetGames. A key priority has been fostering collaboration by maturing our cross-functional teams, so developers, quality assurance, and product owners are aligned on delivering high-quality games.


We’ve also started restructuring our teams to ensure we can focus on both expanding our new game portfolio and maintaining the high standards of our classic games. To prepare for the technological challenges of this shift, I’m introducing tailored upskilling, blending the best practices I’ve used in finance with the unique needs of the gaming industry."


Gaming Eminence: Having spent your first months at BetGames, what early technological opportunities or challenges have you observed within the company's current product lineup? How do you plan to prioritise these findings to ensure BetGames stays ahead in the competitive gaming industry?


GV) "Early on, I noticed an opportunity to streamline how we balance innovation with operational stability. To address this, we’re in the process of restructuring into dedicated teams for new game delivery and classic games, allowing us to focus on each area without compromise. Simultaneously, we’re modernising our backend infrastructure to support both streams and are enhancing our development process with more rigorous testing and feedback loops.


We’re also integrating advanced analytics tools to gain clearer insights into game performance, helping us iterate faster and make data-driven decisions. This dual approach ensures we continue to deliver top-tier products while accelerating our innovation pipeline."


Gaming Eminence: Given the importance of data-driven insights in modern game development, how do you envision leveraging advanced analytics and AI at BetGames to enhance both the product offerings and player experiences, even in these early stages of your tenure?


GV) "We’re already laying the groundwork for leveraging technology to elevate player experiences. In the near future, we are implementing real-time analytics to better understand player behaviour, developing AI-driven tools for dynamic RTP balancing, and creating predictive maintenance systems to keep our platforms running smoothly.


Looking ahead, we’re exploring how AI can power personalised gaming experiences and optimise game design. While we’re still early in this journey, these initiatives set the stage for scalable systems that adapt to player needs, ensuring we remain competitive in a fast-changing industry."


Gaming Eminence: As you begin leading BetGames through a period of significant product expansion, what emerging technological trends do you believe will be most crucial for the iGaming industry in the near future? How do you see BetGames positioning itself to capitalise on these trends, despite your short time with the company?


GV) "The iGaming industry is advancing rapidly, with exciting opportunities in AI for personalised player experiences, augmented reality (AR) for immersive gameplay, and cloud-native architecture to enhance scalability and efficiency.


At BetGames, we’re already methodically embracing some of these technologies and actively preparing to adopt new-age innovations as they emerge. We’re enhancing our infrastructure to support next-generation capabilities, building strong analytics foundations to drive AI-powered initiatives, and fostering a culture of innovation through our new game development programme. At the same time, we remain focused on operational excellence to ensure that innovation is balanced with stability and reliability.


Although I only recently joined BetGames, we’ve already set clear priorities that will enable us to adopt these trends while continuing to deliver engaging, high-quality products that meet the expectations of players in a rapidly evolving market."
